On your next visit to Swansea’s Quadrant Shopping Centre, you may just be greeted by wagging tails and playful paws; as it becomes Wales’ first dog friendly indoor shopping centre.
Due to popular demand, the whole shopping centre, and eighteen of its stores, are now welcoming well behaved dogs with open arms.
Quadrant staff and retailers both understand the importance of four-legged friends and this development will enable further shared experiences with canine companions, right in the heart of Swansea.
With Swansea Indoor Market having already successfully implemented a dog friendly policy over the past 18 months, this is another step forward to Swansea becoming a fully dog-friendly city.
Commenting on this news, is Quadrant Shopping Centre Manager, Lisa Hartley: “This is a huge development for us and we are thrilled to be Wales’s first dog friendly indoor shopping centre.
“We’re located right in the centre of Swansea, and are surrounded by the beautiful coastline, which attracts thousands of visitors a year; many of which are dog owners wanting to explore the very best of Gower. In opening our centre to dogs, it means that visitors and locals, no longer have to leave their beloved dogs behind while they enjoy a day of retail therapy.
“We’ve had great pleasure in welcoming our shoppers and their dogs, over the past week and the response has been fantastic. Dogs truly are a man’s best friend and we’ve really enjoyed witnessing the surprise and delight on our shoppers’ faces as they spot dogs dotted around on their shopping trips.”
Dog-owner, Geraint Jones, from Uplands also commented on the news: “This is very exciting news for me and my family. It means we can now ‘make a day of it’ in Swansea, without panicking about leaving our dog at home all day. There are already so many great, dog-friendly restaurants in Swansea, that this news now enables us to fully embrace where we live. We can now shop, eat and explore the city centre, as well as the coastline with our Cavapoo, Annie.”
Nineteen stores within the Quadrant are dog friendly, and shoppers are encouraged to look-out for the dog friendly stickers which can be found on store windows before entering with their four-legged friends.
The current list of dog friendly stores include:
- Dementia Hwb
- Ernest Jones
- Fragrance Shop
- H Samuel
- Perfume Shop
- Stephen Hughes
- The Works
- The Body Shop
- Three Store
Claire Leahy, store manager at The Body Shop, said: “We absolutely love welcoming dogs of all shapes and sizes in store! We’re all massive dog lovers and so this has been the best news for us!”
Sam Davies, a store manager at Schuh, said: “The whole team gets so excited when a dog comes into store. They instantly boost the mood of both our team and customers! We’ve fully embraced this development and can’t wait to welcome even more to the centre.”
