Meet artist Hannah Davies… you might recognise her distinctive artwork inspired by Swansea and the coast. You’ll currently find her incredible mural on display in the Quadrant.
โBorn and raised in Swansea, Iโve been living in Uplands and Brynmill for the last 18 years of my life.โ
โI have been painting and drawing since I was a little girl and it’s the only thing I have ever wanted to do in my spare time and professionally.ย Travel and culture has inspired me and my work the most, as well as nature and wildlife.
โMy career began with studying Surface Pattern at Swansea Metropolitan University, with inspiration from visits to new designers for our end of year show. I then entered and won a competition which enabled me to secure work with a world-wide illustration agency. Working with them has helped me gain clients from all around the world in advertising, publishing, and much more.
โI was asked to visit Hong Kong as a commission to design artwork for a lighting festival to be placed on to a skyscraper for a Christmas event. Seeing my artwork on the side of a huge building was pretty epic!
โEven though Iโm lucky enough to work with people and businesses from all over the world, it’s special toย be able to give back to my community and inspire local people with my art.
โSwansea Bay offers so much to the community, such as being able to cycle down to Mumbles from Brynmill and Uplands, and we have the beautiful Gower Peninsula on our doorstep!
โItโs such a privilege to be asked to have my artwork, inspired by the city and its coast, on display in the city centre.
โIโm proud to be part of the collection of small independent businesses filling the city with exciting ideas.
