Meet Kelly Jones, who ran the 2023 London Marathon with just 4 months training
“January the 2nd, 2023 was the first time I went out for a run. I couldn’t even run a mile. I had a twelve-week training plan to follow and it was so difficult even fitting in three runs a week, alongside my shifts and looking after my little one. My partner is a runner and he couldn’t believe that I signed up, especially with so little time to train and prepare.
“My time was 6 hours 15 mins. I walked from mile 13 because my knee went but I’m so proud of my time and for completing it.
“I decided to run the marathon for Bowel Cancer UK, as my colleague has been recently diagnosed with bowel cancer. We all came together at Boots to raise the vital funds for someone that means so much to us. We held jam sales and a bake off in store, and are proud to have raised £500 to date, with Boots agreeing to match fund us too!”
