At the Quadrant Shopping Centre, we’re incredibly proud to share the outcome of our Win Your Christmas – The Big £500 Giveaway. This competition was all about celebrating kindness, community, and the people who quietly go above and beyond for others – and the hundreds of stories we received truly moved us.
We’re honoured to introduce our winner and runner-up, whose nominations captured the very heart of what this giveaway represents.
Meet Rhian – Winner of the £500 Christmas Prize
We are delighted to announce Rhian as the winner of our £500 prize.
Rhian was nominated by her neighbour and dear friend, Kirsty, and her story is one of love, resilience, and extraordinary compassion.
“I am truly touched to have been nominated for this prize by my neighbour and dear friend, Kirsty, and completely overwhelmed to have been chosen as the winner.
At the end of August this year, my best friend sadly passed away at just 42, after battling breast cancer that had spread to her brain. In her final months, her beautiful 6-year-old daughter moved in with me and my two sons. She is now part of our family permanently, and she has truly completed our home.
We loved her mother dearly, and of course, we love her just as much. She is an extraordinary little girl, and while losing her mum has been incredibly hard for all who knew her, our focus now is on giving her the happiest and most secure life possible as she settles into her new home.
This £500 prize means so much and will make a real difference to us this Christmas. I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to The Quadrant for helping make a very difficult time a little brighter.”
Rhian’s selflessness and strength left a lasting impression on everyone involved in the judging process. We are so pleased to be able to support her family this Christmas.
Meet Sally Johnson – Runner-Up and £250 Winner
Our runner-up is Sally Johnson from Cockett, who was lovingly nominated by her daughter, Bonnie.
Sally’s story is one of courage in the face of an incredibly challenging year, and we’re proud to award her a £250 prize.
“I am so shocked and happy to have been the runner up. I had no idea my daughter, Bonnie, even nominated me! I’m so touched, especially after the difficult year we’ve had as a family.
Over the summer, I was having difficulty breathing while visiting my daughter in Bangor, North Wales; something I thought may have just been linked to my asthma and COPD.
I was in Ysbyty Gwynedd (Gwynedd Hospital) for two weeks while they ran tests, which showed I had a collapsed lung, breast cancer, and spotting of cancer on my spine and shoulder. It was frightening to have been given these results.
I wanted to start treatment immediately and so since June, I have been up in Bangor receiving treatment in Ysbyty Gwynedd. My family in Swansea have spent a lot of time on the road heading up to see me this year, and I’m hoping to be transferred to Swansea in the new year.
My cancer isn’t curable, but it’s treatable, and I’m taking each day as it comes.
This £250 prize from The Quadrant is such a welcomed surprise, and I’m planning to treat myself and my family to new perfume and gifts from Boots, so I can spoil us after such a tough year.”
Thank You to Our Community
We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate someone special. The stories we received were a powerful reminder of the kindness, resilience, and compassion that exists within our community.
From all of us at Quadrant Shopping Centre, we wish Rhian, Sally, and their families and friends a peaceful and joyful Christmas – and thank you for allowing us to be a small part of your journey.
